Kargil, Jan 25 (KNO): Amid the serious resentment over non-representation of Kargil in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi, the Anjuman Jamat-Ulama Isna Ashria Kargil has decided to boycott official Republic Day parade and celebrate the day "on their own level". The Anjuman has decided not to attend the official Republic Day function to be held in Kargil on January 26th as a mark of protest against the administration for no mention of their identity in the Tableau presentation in New Delhi. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), , President of Anjuman e Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Ashaira Kargil, Sheikh Nazir Mohammadi said that "We have decided to celebrate the Republic Day without attending the scheduled official function as a mark of protest and have invited people from all walks across the Kargil district." He said that both the central government and UT administration have ignored the Kargil district. "We were assured that Leh and Kargil will get an equal share in terms of governance, but Kargil has been completely ignored on all fronts. Any top administrative officer who comes to Kargil hardly stays here for a day and goes back to Leh," Mohammadi said. Mohammadi said before the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir equal amount of share, dignity, and representation was given to Kargil. "The representation of Tableau at the Republic Parade in New Delhi has no mention about the identity of the Kargil district and this selective approach of administration by ignoring the Muslim community is a deliberate attempt," he alleged. Meanwhile, an invitation press release issued the Anjuman reads that "In wake of protest against the undemocratic treatment and selective representation by ignoring Muslim Community of Ladakh and entire Kargil district with no mention of their respective identities through Tableau presentation during Republic Day Parade in the National Capital New Delhi." "In this regard, Jamiat ul Ulama Isna Asharya Kargil Ladakh has decided to celebrate the Republic Day on its own level", the letter reads. It reads that people from all sections of society in the Kargil district are requested to join to celebrate 72nd Republic Day on 26 Jan 2021 at 10.30 am at Isna Ashria Chowk Kargil-Ladakh. The Ladakh region consists of two districts including Buddhist dominated Leh and Muslim dominated Kargil—(KNO)
